Adding aftermarket amplifier to factory head unit

I am wanting to add my aftermarket amplifer to my factory head unit. I have a 2005 F150 Supercab without the audiophile system. The head unit is the 6 disc with MP3. I have looked online at some output converters but have no idea which ones work the best. Or if anyone has any ideas or has added an aftermarket amplifier to there factory head unit i would apperciate any ideas or suggestions that you may have. Thanks

Any line ouput converters will work.. They all do the same job... How soon do you need them.. I have one in my truck right now but I am going to aftermarket stereo so I wont be needing it anymore and I can sell cheap if you want it.... If you need them please email me at mwatson69_2k@yahoo.com.. The only thing is that I wont have them out until next Tuesday.. Thanks

Matt

Does your amp not have high level inputs?

Many High level converters can add noise into the system. You want to go with a higher quaility one like this one from David Navonne:

Or you could consider going with the JL Audio CleanSweep

I agree. Not all of them are good. But, if done correctly, most of the name brand models will work. Walmart carries a Scosche adapter that I have heard good and bad about. I have one from PAC and I had no noise issues at all. It cost me like $40.

x2. Those were the two I was going to suggest also.

Heck, I ran a Metra one for 6 mo. and it worked fine. Of course there is better, but for my short period of time and only 15 bucks it worked like a charm. Its in my buddies Grand Prix right now (for about a year) and he hasnt had any problems with it either.
Just depends what you want to spend on one.

I'm interested in putting an AMP in my 06 STX...same deal, no audiophile but the cd6/mp3. So can someone break it down for a non-audio guy like me? Is there a specific adapter from Schoche that I use? Also what is a good amp around $100?

thanks

Don't mean to sound sarcastic but

truthfully not much. What are you looking to amp? speakers or sub? $200 will get you into a much better group. The amount of work and accessories to install a $100 amp isn't really worth it. If you were going to get that now and then swap it out later it would also be hard to get all you money back. I would suggest saving up a little more.

$200 is fine, all i am looking to do is power the speakers. What I am really after is how do they wire up? An adapter harness or splice and dice??

Your best bang for the buck is a 2 channel for the fronts the rear is just fine on radio power for rear fill. There are a ton out there and everybody has an opinion on them. I would recommend staying with a quality brand name with a good warranty. I prefer rockford fosgate and eclipse. I've had both in the past and have a rockford 25tolife power1000 right now to run my boston acoustics Z6's in the front doors and a sub that I'm still deciding on.

Yep, stepping up to a 200 dollar budget is a good idea. If you are going used, 200 bucks can get you a pretty nice amp, especially if its a smaller 2 channel. You can even get some nice onces for around 100 bucks.

I see Diamond D5300.2's on ebay all the time for like 130 bucks, and they are pretty nice amps.

Right now I have a (dont laugh) Rockford 301s amp on my comps, and its actually a nice little amp, havent had any trouble with it, and you can get those on ebay for like 100 bucks.

A LOC taps into 4 of your speaker wires (two +'s, and two -'s). Thats all there is to it, then, just run a pair of RCA's from the LOC to your amp.

check out ikesound.com
they carry refurbished amplifiers for killer prices.
I just picked up a power acoustics 4channel amp for $127 shipped. Ultimate electronics was selling the model for over $400.

keep in mind your stock speakers ar only rated for 25 watts so a new amp might chew throw them pretty quick.
