I posted this in the speaker/subwoofer forum before I realized that there was an amp forum, so I apologize for the repost (I just figured this would get more appropriate responses) anyways... heres the post.

Hey, I have a question for you guys...

Okay, I had a JBL 1200W amp (I can't remember the model number off the top of my head.) But I got it off of ikesound for likw $299. I went to see about a new one and they've been discontinued. So I started looking around at other amps and I ran across the Kenwood KAC-8101D. Does anyone have any experience with this amp? Or Kenwood amps in general? I need a cheap and reliable amp and need pointed in the right direction. THanks a bunch!

Im betting that JBL amp was a BP1200.1. You can still get those on ebay and sometimes find them refurbished for like 200 bucks.
I have the 600 watt version and its awsome for only 150 bucks

 

The problem with amps is that you basically get what you pay for.
Kenwood amps are decent amps....theyre over-rated, but effective. Im more of a Crossfire and Memphis amp guy myself. JBL is ok. Theyre royally over-rated too.
Personally, I would go with Kenwood.

 

You ever heard high end JBL stuff? Pretty nice stuff. And over rated? My amps rated at 600wrms, but puts out about 700 in reality.
