Blaupunkt Amp Question

It's been a long time (20 years) since I worked with upgrading car stereos. That has changed, since I was just given a new Blaupunkt PCA450 amp and need to know if I should use it in my truck, and if so, the best way to utilize it.

I have an '01 SCrew, with the factory 6 disc changer and HU, and have recently replaced the 4 stock speakers with Blaupunkt PCX573 (also free, so whether good or bad I still thought they'd be better than stock).

If I use the amp, what should I be powering?

I would rather run the stock locations and not add a sub, but if adding the amp to the mix is going to be less amps than the factory HU, then I may use the amp to power a sub at a later date.

Thanks in advance

Well, if your speakers can take 50 watts rms, Id just put the amp on the speakers.

Blaupunkt is ok-I wouldnt buy one, but if you got one free, meight as well.

If you stay with the stock HU dont forget a LOC converter.

Or you could put 2 channels on the front speakers and bridge the last 2 for a sub. Just another idea

Good luck with wahtever you do

Thanks for the quick reply Bartak1.

Is the output of the factory HU less than 200W?

Yes its under 200 watts. It puts out around 10 watts per channel-40 or so total.

Most aftermarket HU will put out more power total in one channel then a factory HU will all channels combined.
