Question Amp locations

I'm lookin' at the box for 2- 10 inchers from probox or musicmoose for under the rear seat, but I'm having a hard time finding a spot for the Amp.
I was assuming I'd be able to mount it under the front passenger seat, but dude at the local shop says it's pretty tight between the bars that you lift for seat adjusting.
(it looks like around 8.5" between the bars)

What amps are people able to fit under the front passenger seat ?

I have the rear seats that flips up. Has anyone heard of mounting an amp behind the seat back ? (Maybe a class D would run cool enough.)

Thanx in advance for any input !!!

You should still be able to mount it under the passenger seat. I put a HiFonics BX1500D under mine and the bars don't mess with it. I've also had an MTX 6500D under there with no problem.

You could also put it behind the seat back. You will most likely need to get some fans for it so it doesn't overheat. You could also try in the center console.

Dupuis,
What 4 channel amp ya got under the seat ? I wonder if you have more room under there in your '04 than I do in my '00.

The HiFonics is 13.8 L x 10.4 W x 2.4 H

The MTX is about 11.5 L x 9.75 W x 2.1 H

It's a cheap Xplore 5555, given to me by a friend. I will be up dating it soon. I'm at work, not sure of dim. I don't see why you would have problem getting most 4 channel amps under the pass. seat. I have seen pictrues and read of many people putting them there.
Best thing to do is go to Best Buy or sound shop and look at amps and get dim. Go to manufactors web sites to get dim also.
Just take mesurements of space under your seat and go from there.
Good luck.

There was no place I could mount this big 5 channel amp so here was my solution. A aluminum plate bolted to the box with the amp mounted on polyurethane vibration isolators.

Thanx for all the info.

I ended up getting the probox and a pair of the CompVR 10 inchers and a Kicker 600.1 under the seat. Sounds great !!

Having a regular cab and no space would it be possible to mount an amp to the roof ? (Headliner) I hope amps don't cause brain cancer.

I have seen a amp mounted on the roof of a truck. It looked pertty clean too. He had all the wires hidden and it looked smooth.

Green,

Is that an aftermarket paintjob? I have NEVER seen that color (on an F-150) before.

be careful of mounting an amp upside down because the heat will

1. rise and keep the amp very hot
2. make the top of the truck hot, so if you are tall, you will always sweat

Or set the liner on fire.

By the way, love your user name. Must have some sort of meaning behind it.
