Speaker Efficiency and Amp Power

Anybody use the speaker efficiency and amp power output to match the SPL from the fronts, rears, and subs?

SPL = speaker efficiency (dB) + amp power (dBW)

amp power (dBW) = 10*log(amp power in watts)

I used this method and ended up attenuating my front stage so it played at a slightly lower SPL than the sub. I also attenuated my rear fill so they played lower than my front stage. Seems to work pretty well.

Well I do love to do some number crunching from time to time but in all honesty I feel that it really boils down to the final tweaking that makes the difference. Numbers will get you close or give you an idea but unless you really pay attention and tweak your system correctly by ear all the numbers in the world will not help you. Afterall we are not listening to numbers, we are listening to music.
