Soundstream - Good, Bad, Ugly

A stereo shop has offered a killer deal on a Soundstream Van Gogh 800.5 amp. My question is...Are these amps any good? Soundstream amps in general?? Please post any experiences you have had with the newer amps. Thanks in advance...

Soundstream is one of the older more respected amps in car audio. I am not as familiar with that particular amp as I am with their reference series such as the Tarantula, Da Vinci, Rubicon and Reference series. However, I can tell you even their lower level Picasso series is still a quality amp that will sound good and put out respectable power.

Ok did a little looking into the Van Gogh line and yes that line is still one of their top quality lines so have no fear you will get the rated power from the amp and it will be extremely clean.

Looked a little more and it appears there now entry level is the edge series amps. They like Rockford, Orion, PPI and many other companies now make multiple different lines of amps ranging from entry level (less power, more distortion, lower cost) to competition level amps (under-rated power, ultra clean, high cost).

Good to see you used the search option. Sad to see you resurected a 7yr old thread. Check someone of the online retailers like woofers Etc or sonixelectronics and compare the prices. Ive heard some of the soundstream stuff, but dont know alot about the subs
