Tiny Amps

Hiya, folks.

A few years ago (umm, 8 or so) I put an aftermarket setup in a '94 Ranger. While planning it, I ran across some tiny amplifiers that I ended up using in that truck. Each amp was about 6x4x1, and were so lightweight that I just used velcro to stick them to the rear carpeting in the truck bed.

I recently bought myself a new 2003 F-150 SuperCab, and I'm thinking of doing the custom stereo thing again. The problem is that once I stick a sub box under the rear seat, I instantly run out of space to put an amplifier box. So, I went looking specifically for more tiny amplifiers that I can fit under the front seats. So far, no luck finding anything smaller than about 15x15x3.

Anybody know where I can locate some "stealth" amplifiers, or have any brilliant ideas for putting amps in a SuperCab when the space under the rear seat is already in use?

Thanks

What are you planning on putting under your rear seat?

If you put 1 sub under the 60% passenger side.. there's plenty of room for an amplifer under the driver's side 40%.

Such as this....

There are 2 amps in that spot you see.. one on top of the other.

I'd thought about something like that, but I was worried about heat problems w/ 2 amps stacked like that. I take it you don't have any heat problems?

BTW, what's the mounting depth of that sub you've got? I'm thinking of an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 VQ, which has a 6-1/2" mounting depth, or an Infinity Perfect 10.1, which has a 5-3/4" mounting depth. I'm concerned about whether there's actually enough room for this under the seat.

Thanks for the tip. Did you build the box yourself or have it built?

I DID have a problem with heat for a little while.. but I put a larger fan on the lower amp and problem solved.

My sub is 5.0" mounting depth. I just built a new downfire box and I got about 5.5" depth in the box... maybe just SLIGHTLY less.

When I finish the amp rack for the new box and get it carpeted.. I'll take some new pics.

PS.. the DOWNFIRE box sounds TREMENDOUSLY better than the box you see in the pic. Possibly due to quality of construction AND from the "reflection" effece of the downfire box.

Blaupunkt PA series amps. So small it'll make your head spin.
