Line converter query

I'm replacing the four speakers in my "L" and need to understand a little more about the connections between the head unit and a new amp. (I want to keep the stock head unit, so I'm also installing an MTX 4244 amp.)

I understand that if I purchase a 4-channel converter, I can use this with the MTX amp. Does the head unit simply have 8 wires out (+ and - for each of 4 speakers) that connect to the converter and then 4 (?) RCA cables go from the converter to the MTX amp?

If that's not correct, can someone provide a simple wiring diagram for a simpleton?

Thanks,
Jeff

Thats pretty much it. All you do is take the speaker wire that is going into the speakers and then plug that into the converter and then from there you will have RCAs out.
