Clunk...

OK guys and gals, a little help here...

Trying to diagnose a rear end clunk noise. It happens sometimes while slow turning with or without brakes on, turning over uneven street junctions or slowly entering a driveway. I can have the truck in park w/brake on and push either rear tire back and forth and hear a clunk. I thought for the longest time it was the slip yoke but it isn't, though I can feel it on take off and slow down, just without a clunk noise. Everything looks tight suspension wise but I guess I need to get under there and torque everything down.

Got any idears?

Not sure if this could be the cause or not but would it be possible the axle bearings could be bad?

For the longest i thought it was balljoints or tierod but i've narrowed it down to the rear. I'm wondering if the bushings have to much play in springs.

I did have a rear end bang/clunk. It was the rubber bushing in the rear shock had separated from the shock cause the rear shock to shift/bang around. You could give that rear shock a twist and see if it is moving.

101,xxx miles. Rear end has been serviced within the last 20,000 miles or so, so I'd assume it is good. No rear end whine and no rear end clutch pack issues.

Be nice if it was a shock since I have some new ones waiting to be put on. lol

The u joints look OK, didn't see any abnormal play when I was muscling the truck around from underneath.

My miles are ~90% highway though. Not as many stop/starts as most.
