Still hope I'm on a list for a CS, don't even need the custom tunes yet, the canned will do for now!

By the time the tuners come out, the 2011's will be out and sporting all new motor line-ups and probably have to wait two more years for tuners for those trucks..

No one is making you wait. I'm sure Edge will sell enough units to cover their production cost and it will be cheaper than releasing unreliable tunes.

Ok I am newly interested in tuning my truck and have been doing a lot of reading. What is all this "transmission" talk that everyone is waiting for? I have an '09 and am trying to figure out which programmer is right for me.

Just an update on the 45 minute download thing. I have been switching between my performance and tow tunes from Troyer, and after the initial download of the stock tune from the truck to the programmer, it seems switches between custom tunes takes about ten minutes. I assume that when I return to stock someday, I will experience the 45 minute wait then, too, but going from one custom tune to another only takes about ten minutes.

The funny thing is that I have been putting the truck's battery on a trickle charger, letting the program rum, and returning to my truck after about 35-40 minutes to wait for the last five minutes to complete the cycle. I noticed that the past few times, the SCT said it was completed. The last time I programmed, I happened to be in my barn and walked by at about ten minutes and watched the programmer finish up.

autoanything.com says that they are shipping the "Insight CS" and "Insight CTS" between 8/9 and 8/11. They appear to be the same hardware as the Edge CS & CTS but are sold as MONITORS, stating that "Monitors do not reprogram/tune or add power to vehicle." I wonder what this means for the long awaited pending PHP version.

hmmmm let me phrase this carefully, I am interested in this because I love the display monitor and the power so if I can get a custom tune on it even better. But I can tell you since I was a beta tester for the 97-03 Edge if the process for "field testing" these is anything like what I went through don't hold your breath for it to come out. I can't think of anyway to describe that experience that doesn't involve the world "cluster&$(@#" in it. With that being said I will wait until a couple of you guys get them and if all seems ok I will probably get one with custom tunes.

As I am a newb on many of these forums + working on vehicles, I had a couple of questions for you guys..

I was looking into the Edge Cs and cts..

From what I read, the only real difference is the CS is 2.4 in button controlled and the cts is 4.3 in touch screen that comes with video ports and the mount..

Is that all that really is different?

Also, is there a guide you guys would recommend to understand all the features? I watched the trailor for this and saw many of the different perks it has. My problem is I don't know what half of them are... I understand a lot of you could explain many of them in a quick instant, but I guess a point in the right direction would be awesome. To learn the benefits of all the functions.

For someone that has never really worked on a car, how hard is installing all of this? I heard its basically a plug and play type thing but wanted to know if its really that easy..

My last question is with fuel economy, as a daily driver basically traveling from freeway to work and back, how much of a gain in the MPG might one expect on a 03 f150 5.4 triton xlt? I was considering buying a commuter car because after I got my 5in lift and 35s i went down to 10mpg, but would really just like to deal with one vehicle for now. I know this would be worth it, but granted my trip in decemember rather make the best with my money.

I apologize if some of these questions sound silly, I have been trying to research as much as I can, but with limited time, I figured you guys might be able to point me in the right direction. From all the excitement, I know I am looking into atleast the right area.

Thanks!

1 to 2 mpg at best, maybe nothing. Your best fuel economy gains would be with a custom tune from one of the most reputable tuners. To get a custom tune with an Edge, there's only one source - PHP - the device needs to be converted to a Gryphon.

I have been reading about people talking about Gryphon. How much does it cost to convert it or is it something you do yourself? Would there be a further gain in gas mileage with it? As I would love to have added power to suit my truck, right now gas mileage to save money is one of my main concerns.

PHP is no longer converting Edge Evolutions to Gryphons (97-2003).

However, you can order a Gryphon CS or CTS directly from PHP.

I recommend you spend a couple of hours reading the stickies at the top of this forum and all the posts in PHP's forums.

Am I mistaken in thinking that an Edge CS or CTS can be converted? Are those still considered Evos where the 97-03 is concerned?
