2005 rims on a 2009???
2005 rims on a 2009? **PICTURE**
Ok i sold my old rims to my step dad, since they got an 09 and i sold my 05 a couple of month ago.
Here's the problem. He went to put is winter tire on the rims and the truck, but Ford called him back to say they don't fit. The caliper is touching the rim.
What give? Ford sell the same wheel on 2009 truck. (2005 FX4 18'')
Did they change something on the wheel to make it fit?
Edit : They don't fit. To put them on, you will need about a 1/4'' spacer on the front.
These are the rim in question, 2005 FX4 18''

The WILL fit on an 09, not a problem. I've got 04 17" FX4 rims and they fit just like my stock 09 17" XLT rims do. There is a change in brake size for the 10's but I don't think Ford will eliminate the 17" wheel option.
Maybe a different back spacing from 05 stock rim and 09 stock rim?
Paralyser the winter rim are 2005 F150 FX4 stock rim.

I believe the backspacing is the same on all the 04-10 seventeen and eighteen inch wheels. I'll be honest, I'd have to pull a wheel off and mount one myself and see what the problem is. I mean people ae still mounting the same aftermarket wheels from the 04-08's on their 09-10's.

That's what i'll be doing tomorow.
I feel bad selling rims to my step dad and they don't even fit.
I just can't today, because he's hunting and he didn't call me last night to tell me what happen with the dealer.

Wandell, the question came up in another thread. Was the problem of the early 2004 wheel not fitting after they changed the brake caliper resrticted to aftermarket wheels, or did it include factory wheels as well?

It was sometime in 2005 that Ford changed brake calipers. This caused some fitment problems with some aftermarket 17 inch wheels. The OEM 17's and most aftermarket 17's still fit fine. Maybe he has larger tires on his OEM 18's and the tech thought the tire size wouldn't fit?

I need to try it myself to have a clear answer i guess.
