How to add OEM brake control module 22 F150

Can anybody help direct me to the correct parts I need to install the OEM brake controller to my truck? I gave the VIN number to the parts dept and the guy gave me the part number. When I search for it and check the "confirm this part fits your vehicle" it says it does not. I bought this truck used and really would like the factory controller since my 2011 has it and I love it. My 2022 XL STX has the hitch and 7 pin with 4 pin connector already on it. Some say I need a control box that needs to be swapped out and some say I don't. Others say all I need is to remove the change holder and plug in the controller then program it in Forscan.

This part has been out of stock forever and I'm needing a solution soon. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

You'll also need to get it programmed by the dealer to make it function.

Not necessarily - reading a thread on our sister forum says that it can be done with Forscan, one post even says if you replace another module it works without programming. I can't find any details on that "other module".

Yes, Forscan is another option. But I wouldn't do it unless it was out of warranty.

Hey, sounds like you’re in a bit of a frustrating situation. If your 2022 XL STX already has the hitch and 7-pin, you should just need the OEM brake controller and potentially a harness if it wasn’t pre-wired. You might not need to swap the control box depending on your truck’s configuration, but it’s best to double-check with Forscan after installing. I’ve heard of others just plugging in the controller after removing the change holder and then programming it without major issues. As for the part being out of stock, have you tried looking at salvage yards or aftermarket options? Could be a quicker fix. Good luck!
