New member, new F150 owner 1st post
Well first post by a new member greetings to all.
If the dealership honors the OTD price they emailed me today I will be buying a new 2021 F150 5.0L V8 XL 4X4 Supercab 8' box tomorrow night.
This will be my first ever new Ford F150 was a GM/GMC guy forever but my exhaustive research lead me to believe the F150 is a better over all truck based on significanltly fewer No#s of TSB's and recalls. The final factor that lead me to F150 was GM/GMC no longer makes a 1/2 ton/1500 extended cab with an 8' box after IIRC 2014 and a 8' box in a truck is a must have for me.
I take exceptionally excellent care of my vehicles and I hope to have this truck for 20 years. But all of my vehicle maintenance knowledge is pre 2010 so I need to be brought up to speed on how best to care for a new 2021 F150.
The first time I looked under the hood at a 2018 with a 5.0L V8 I was utterly astounded by the shear complexity of the motor VS the motors in my other truck and SUV and new it was way beyond anything I presently knew or understood.
As I haven't bought a new vehicle since 2002 and this is my first F150 I have a few questions
First off will the owners manual that comes with the new truck be as good a source as I will need for all my maintenance requirements or is there a book hat is superior to the Ford F150 manual worth buying and using or one that is a good manual to supplement the factory F150 manual worth buying and using?
Also what I would like form those very experienced in F150's with the 3rd and 4th generation 5.0L V8's and ten speed transmissions is to know is there a list of "Do's and Never Do's for the 5.0L V8 and 10 speed transmission?
Can anyone recommend a over all list of "Do's and Never Do's for the entire 2021 F150 truck itself.
I guess what I am asking is there anything I need to know about how best to operate and maintain my new 2021 F150 that is not clearly stated in the owners manual?
To add a little helpful info I seriously doubt I will ever tow much of anything and I do not even own a trailer or boat at this time. My use for the truck 99% of the time will be driving to and from work and road trips for vacations and my hobbies of hunting and fishing.
Thanks to all who offer to share their experience with a novice.
