Ice in bellhousing
Good afternoon... I am new to the site so please forgive me if this has already been addressed but I cannot find anything on it...
I have an '18 with a 2.7 and the 10 speed transmission. Twice I have had to have my truck towed due to ice freezing inside my bell housing. The first time happened after a long ride from RI to PA in pouring rain followed by bitter cold temps. The second time was after a short ride (3miles) home from work and a deep freeze. This time the ice took out my starter. My local dealer claims to have no idea what could be causing it. They are offering to drill a hole in the bell housing to allow it to drain which may well eliminate the problem but I still believe there is a logical explanation that should be fixed... Anyone heard of such a thing?
