Deciphering rear housing codes.

I understand there is a code in the door jamb decal that describes the rear housing in an F-150. My problem is I have 2 rear housing assemblies here from salvaged trucks and the trucks are gone. One was a '16 and the other an '18. I find a code on tape wrapped around the rear tube of each housing. What do those codes tell me?
I have S808A and SB78A.

Are there any tags on the diff rear cover bolts? That is where the info is supposed to be.

Not that I know a lot about this but I haven't noticed that metal tag for a few years now. I thought they went to the tape around the tube?

Looks like S808A is a 3.55 open 8.8 out of a 3.3 liter with electric e-brake. No info on the SB78A, look at it again.

Not close enough to recheck that latter code but I'm guessing it should read S878A.

Looks like you also had this issue 3 years ago -

https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...axle-code.html

Looks like the S878A is a 3.73 open 8.8 out of a 3.5 NA.

The S808A is probably out of the 2018, the S878A is out of the 2016.

You are correct and you have a better memory than I do! THANKS
So neither of these rears have a metal tag attached. Did Ford quit using the metal tag and go to the tape in recent years?

I believe so. Now - I don't know if they are standard 8.8 or Super 8.8. Standard has 10 bolt cover, Super is 12 bolt.
