2016 F150 backup camera at night
Just got my F150 though it is a 2016 model. Love it! BUT the backup camera is almost worthless at night because the taillights create a red "haze" in the image on the screen. It has the Sync3 with 8" screen. Daytime is great. Night vision is barely fair until I put the brakes on and then it seems to wash out everything in red. Plenty of light because the LED taillights are very bright. Maybe too much? Maybe there is a contrast problem in the camera? Been looking through the forum but not seeing this problem elsewhere yet. I asked the dealer to research before I leave it.

Papa, it looks to me as though you can still see something if it was there, despite the pink glow. If you have some object you could place behind your truck at night, you could check this and see if it was still usable.
I agree it's unpleasant though. Are the backup lights on?

If there were an object above the roadway it would show up but for seeing the driveway or road I am backing into - not much. Yes, the backup lights are on but seem overpowered by the LED brake lights. I have thought about seeing if the dealership will help with getting supplemental back up lights to mount under the bumper beside the hitch receiver.
Well, did a little experimenting and if I put a 150w floodlight behind the truck I can see rather well. Obvious solution is to add aux backup lights beside the hitch. Not lets see if I can get dealer to do this since it is a design deficiency! (Not holding my breath)!
No, I doubt you're going to get this done on Ford's dime. But, good troubleshooting! It's interesting that no one else has added a similar complaint to this thread.

Quick question, and I'm sure you looked...Is there a piece of plastic/protector over the lens?
Thanks.
Thanks.
