16' or 17'..?
16' or 17'..?
What route would you take if you were "interested" in a new F-150? I have had a 2013 F-250 6.2 platinum for the past 3 years which served me well when I did some fairly heavy towing but now that I am down to a 4500# boat and the occasional haul with a 22' enclosed trailer weighing in at around 7500 lbs. I have had my heart set on getting into a new F-150 w/ the 3.5 ecoboost, 6.5' box and max tow (cannot drive a pick up without tow mirrors) I have found a few 2016's on the lot at 7-9k off msrp. Question is...in your opinion is the 2017 w/ the new ecoboost and 10 speed trans worth waiting for? I should add that I get x plan thru work so price doesn't bother me too much, looking forward to some opinions.
Since you don't have an immediate need, I would wait on the 2017. The extra depreciation on the 2016 and the 10 speed would make it worth while for me.

The 3.5 in the '17 is supposed to have a little more grunt too I thought.
I'm in the same boat. I have to have the front bench in a Lariat and those are getting hard to find on the dealer lots so I may hold out a year and look for a hold over '17. I also have access to the X-plan.

Yup!!
I almost traded my '13 f250 in for a '14 f150 fx4 last fall and the trade in value was 40k (f250 platinum 6.2 30k miles). And now 6 months and 5 thousand more miles I am having a hard time getting in the 35k range!! Highly doubt that'll improve anytime soon. The 6.2 has served me well so far so I think I'll hang on to her for another year and see how the new boosted 10 speed performs. Thanks for the replies!!

Good luck. I am looking forward to seeing the new raptors next year.
Any comments on gearing?
3.31 vs 3.55 vs 3.73
I have a '12 5.0 Supercrew 4x4 w/ 3.73 and pull an enclosed 3 place sled trailer in the winter. If I purchase a '16 with the 5.0 I don't think I want to go any thing higher than a 3.55. If I purchase a '16 with the 3.5 I think 3.55 would be fine, but what about the 3.31 in my application?
Otherwise, if I hold out for a '17 I can get the new setup but would not get the substantial clear-out pricing available on the '16's right now.
