Cold Air Intake for the 3.5l EcoBoost

I wanted to see if anyone has put a Cold Air Intake on their Ecoboost? I have had an intake on my last two vehicles including an 07 F150.

I am always leery of swapping out parts if it is a brand I have never heard of. So I was excited to see I can get a CAI from someone like Roush.

Anyone have experience with adding the CAI to the EcoBoost and what are you thoughts if you have?

Here is the Roush intake.

The air intakes on the ecoboost and 5.0/3.5 NA engines have an effective CAI from the factory.

I had an Airaid one on my 2012 EB, I never really thought it did anything besides making the blowoff/inatke more audible.....

Hot air intakes are great for making noise but not much else. The engineers at Ford spent a lot of money on really expensive software to make the factory one flow well.

All the CAI manufacturers claim to increase horse power with their product. I am installing an AFE dual filter on my 2016 Eco boost. If it makes a differenct, Great. If not, they look great.

I can claim anything that doesn't make it true.

The throttle body stays the same size and the exhaust manifolds stay the same size. Both of these have a smaller diameter than the air inlet pipes. The factory filter already flows more than enough air than needed. Unless you put much bigger turbos on your truck there's already plenty of air being supplied with the factory setup.

As has been discussed so many times in the past 20 years, if these things worked so well, Ford would already be using them instead of more costly tech like turbocharging, stop - start and aluminum bodies.
