Joe, I keep forgetting about these dang aluminum things coming off the line now...
I have seen some Platinum's a few years ago with as little as #850 payload.. Those had a $60k sticker on it too.. That's what I have in my head I guess..
I know I'm out of date with my '13, but it does have #1920 payload..
If I had the money, i.e. LOTTERY!, what would it be? I love my '11 Lariat. I special ordered her in Oct. of 2010. I'd keep her because she was my dream truck. So, what would I buy?
My choice would be - a 2016 F150 Lariat Supercrew, 4x4, 5.5 bed, 5.0, 3.73EL rear. Oxford white/Medium Earth Gray interior. Current price in that configuration is $48,295.00 NET.

502A Equipment Group (which includes the Chrome package).
FX4 Off road package.
Trailer Tow package.
Technology Group (360 camera w/split view display, Dynamic Hitch control, Rearview camera function).
Bed divider.
Box side steps.
Extended range fuel tank.
Tailgate step.
Twin panel moonroof.
Wheel well liners.
Power Trailer Tow mirrors.
Power deployable running boards.
20" Chrome wheels.
All Weather rubber floor mats.
Inflatable rear safety belts.
Integrated trailer brake controller.
I think that's it?
Asking price - $61,530.00 Smackeroos (as of 02/21/16)
Sounds perfect - I'll take one while you are at it!
I love my truck but...I'll take one too if you win!
Well, How did this turn into a Real Estate discussion? I know... some Ranting going on I guess. The point was, if I had money, and wanted to buy a New Truck, not a Double Wide?, Lol, what would I buy? That was the point.....Yea, prices are outrages. My '11 Stickered at around $50,000.00. At the time I had money. I had the opportunity to buy my dream truck. So I did just that. So I was just thinking, Hum? What if I had that money today? Or if I hit the Lottery, what would I get today if I had the money? Oh, by the way, this '16 truck I built has a Payload of 2,100lbs.. My '11 Lariat is about 1,611lbs.........

So without the 700 lbs savings with the aluminum I would be under 1000lbs.
In all fairness to these new style trucks I think they are quite capable. I would really dread having to buy another heavy duty truck for daily driving.
I worked a contract job in Crystal River FL in 2008. After the recession got going with all of the foreclosed homes, you could get a heck of a deal in parts of Fl. We looked at a lot of homes in Lehigh Acres close to Ft. Meyers, FL in 2009. There were dozens of foreclosed homes that were 4 years or so old, 3 BR, 2 bath, double garage in the 1500 to 1700 sq ft range that could be bought for $50k to $60k. A few even sold for around $30k. We were tempted but didn't buy. An investor could have make some money buying those homes and turning them over now.
I don't think you will see those kinda real estate prices again for quite some time, maybe not in our lifetimes.
I broke into real estate during those days and build houses now. Banks want so much collateral, cashflow, paydown provisions, and they give you several outs.
