2015 3.5 vs 2.7
#16
I've had both. I traded my first gen 3.5 eco for my current 2.7 eco. I like both. I wanted better economy and it appears I am getting it. Currently I am getting about 1 mpg better on my unbroken in 2.7 eco than I was getting on my broke in 3.5 eco. I can't wait until the little engine is broke in. I had 3.31 gears in the old truck and have 3.55 gears in the new one and went to a 4x4. I could tell the difference in acceleration between my old and new with the new being just slightly slower. I rarely drive my trucks hard so the slight drop in acceleration is nothing as far as I'm concerned. I'm the "typical" truck owner. I need something to get oddly shaped items from Home Depot or Lowes and to the dump. I don't tow much and I rarely go off road (4x4 is for snow).

The stock tune on the 3.5 is more than 12PSI, it's spikes in the 15-17 range and tapers down to 14-16 in 1st and 2nd. In 3rd-6th it does drop a little bit more because those K03s can't deliver the volume of air needed hold that much boost. Ford recommends to never exceed 20PSI.

Probably a custom version of the Borg Warner K04 if they stick with Borg Warner on the GT. Or possibly one of their EFR series turbos. The other 3.5EB platforms use Garrett turbos so that is also a possibility. The GT uses the car heads since their cams aren't as variable. It was easier for the race teams to not deal with variable cams and tuning them. It made sense because a race engine runs hard most of the time.
