Leveling kit vs. your insurance.

I was going to add a leveling kit the the truck i want to order but found out that most insurance companies dont touch them.

Basically what Im getting at is, what premium are you paying? And does your insurance company know that you have a leveling kit installed?

Never had a problem with a lifted truck.

They wont insure mods at replacement value though. Bang up a $1200 custom bumper and you only get used value on it.

I believe Insurance companies have problems with people who install huge lift kits on a truck, making it unstable, thus causing a rollover, and the claimant seeking compensation.
But a simple Leveling kit? Theres no reason to even tell them you have one. They'll never know.

I've been in the insurance industry 20 yrs. Just say no to any customization regarding a level kit.

You have a leveling kit, yet are saying people shouldn't get one?
and work in the Insurance industry?
This makes no sense.

I believe what 329 meant was when filling out insurance paperwork, don't acknowledge having a leveling kit on your truck.

I have been in the insurance industry over 20 years and to my knowledge I have never known of a claim being denied because of a level kit.

That being said I would suggest that you read your policy very closely to see exactly what it says. Policy terms and exclusions can vary from company to company.

The only person you would be hurting by doing that is yourself. If you are asked and say no then the agent has done their job and you failed to give him/her the correct information. They can't advise you if the facts are misrepresented.

If the policy excludes coverage for an accident if a level kit is installed then it won't matter what you said on the "paperwork". If they find one at the time of an accident you may be up a creek without a paddle.

NO policy will exclude a "leveling kit". Wreck the front end and the least of your worries are those parts.

I doubt any policy was use the wording "leveling kit" in a exclusion but I have see some exclude "suspension modification" which could possibly include leveling kits.

Don't get me wrong, my current truck and my last truck were both leveled so I have no problem with them.

I doubt most insurance companies would have an issue with them but insurance laws and policies vary from state to state. That is why I suggested reading the policy completely. I would never assume to know them all.

For whatever it's worth I just had my 2011 f-150 totaled in an accident. I had a 2 inch level kit and over load springs on the back. My insurance is country ins. And they never even asked about any of it processed my claim and cut me a check for full value of truck. That's why I just bought a 2015 f-150 and had dealer install the 2 inch level kit when i bought it. Now granted the accident was not my fault and the other driver got the ticket for t-boning me but they also had no insurance on there car so I had to claim it on my insurance.
