Lariat ?
Hey guys. Been a member here for a long time but haven't been in a f150 in several years now. I traded my 2001 f250 last week on a new F150 Lariat. My question is my truck has the 502 package with the center console and shifter. It also has the 3.5 ecoboost. My brother also has a new lariat with the 501 package, 5.0 V8, and jump seat with shifter on the column. When he has his truck in drive he can look beside the tach and see what gear the transmission is currently in. Mine doesn't. If I put mine in manual the numbers light up and I can tell which gear I'm in but when I shift to drive the numbers just go out. I've went through all of the settings on the dash and can't find where you can change this. It's not a big deal but I just thought it was weird that his would show it and mine wouldn't. His truck was built in July and mine was built in August.
So far I really like the truck. It was allot different at first because I was so use to the f250 but it drives so much better. This is the first new truck I've bought since 2004 when I bought a silver crew cab but didn't keep it long before I bought the diesel.

I've got a '12 so don't kick me.
I have the Lariat with the 40-20-40 seat and column shifter. In Drive, I can manually limit the top gear by selecting "-" and "+" to allow more gears. If I hit it up one too many times the gear indicator goes out as well, but bump it again and the gears show up on the dash again.
Sounds like what you did but on the console shifter.
