The worst has happened. My 2015 F 150 developed 12" crack overnight. The hit is between the wipers at the bottom Of the windshield, the rock had to have come in at a 60 degree angle being the hit was underneath the wiper arm. Be sure your comprehensive deductible is low , replacement here is $867.00
Sorry for the bad luck! That price seems really high. My buddy has a 2015 and a rock hit his windshield and broke it. I'm not sure what the price was but I remember he said it was less than his $500 insurance deductible and he paid out of his pocket.
Ok, found a place to do OEM for $620 taxes in , seems the larger glass companies like to charge a premium ..Rock hit last week on the highway , looked and didn`t see anything , the temperature gradient here can be extreme fluctuating as much as 35 degrees from day to night at this time of year, guessing that`s how the crack suddenly appeared..
In my state, by law, insurance has to pay for windshield replacement. No deductible, and they cannot raise your rates. It's not considered a "claim"...

Glass America did a great job for me and was very professional. Do watch out for defective Carlite glass. The day I took delivery of my truck it had a small bubble in the laminate that I chose to live with (not obvious). Between Safelite and Glass America I encountered 4 defective windshields. Garbage in the in the laminate and scratches. If you count my original windshield I encountered 5 defective windshields in total.
So I was on a trip out of town yesterday and on the interstate, a truck threw up a rock and hit the windshield. Crack is only an inch wide, and insurance company wants to use safelite. I refused, want factory glass and a to use the dealer, but they are balking at the almost $1000 the dealer is wanting to charge. Last time I had glass done on my 2005, safelite screwed it up so bad they had to replace it. The damn thing LEAKED, the time before that, the piece of glass they used was bowed and the windsheld wipers always had a spot where they would not wipe properly, but by the time i realized this, they would not do anything about it
I haven't broken my windshield yet, but I know it might happen.
But when/if it does, I want the OEM glass along with the F150 vinyl sticker replaced.
The Safelite junk is garbage. We had a 2003 Windstar that Safelite replaced the windshield and it leaked. They replaced it again, and it suddenly formed a crack sitting in the garage. Finally we got sick of it, and we got it replaced with OEM and had Ford do it. Didn't have a problem for several years.
