Differences in the 2015 5.0

Doing some research, I picked up on something that I think is a positive. I'm sure everyone here already knows that the 2015 power specs were bumped up from the previous 360 hp and 380 lb ft torque to 385 hp and 387 lb ft torque. More significant to me is that the torque peak is now about 400 rpm lower, between 3,800 and 3,900 instead of over 4,200.

5.0-liter V8 with twin independent variable camshaft timing: Improved power and efficiency, delivering 385 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque. Smart engineering enhancements such as a new long-runner intake manifold, revised intake cam duration and new pulse-separated exhaust manifolds help raise towing capability by 1,100 pounds to a maximum 11,100 pounds, and payload to 3,300 pounds.

Thats very good for just 5 liters, but it still does not have that torque down low like the EB does. Thats what gets loads moving. When you reach max torque at 2700 rpm. That is right where you need it. Thats what I like about the EB. You don't have to wind it to 4800 rpm to get all the power out of it. It is still amazing that they added that much HP to that 5.0. Thats a bump you should be able to feel. I do love the sound of that 5.0 when you stand on it though, sounds like a stock car. I miss that in my EB. It is very quiet. Powerful, but quiet.

With first and second gear so low, the base v6 can get things moving just fine...

My 5.0 has moved as much as 8,000 pounds just fine towing.
