Brake controller install

Anybody done one yet? any How too's? I did one on my 2011 FX4 and the wiring was all there ready to go behind the dash. Just had to know how to get the trim off and install the brake controller assembly. Still had to get ford to activate it in the computer. $40-$50.

Now I have one bought for my 2015 and wondering if the wiring harness is still prewired like before and some advice in removing the trim to install it. thanks.

I installed the brake module in my 2011 and that helped in my install of the 2015.

I had to take out one screw down by my right foot. The rest was pulling on plastic. Everything is put together by plastic clips.

After lower plastic trim is off, pull down plastic trim just under steering wheel. It's hinged on bottom. So let it hang once let go.

Open centre console cover and pull up on trim that's around the gear shifter. Once up, pull it back. You will have to put truck in neutral. So apply brake.

Then pull up on trim over brake controller hole and centre entertainment system by pulling from the bottom. It will let go and lift up.

Pop out storage tray, unplug cable, plugin to brake module and pop in Back in slot. No screw not problem.

Snap everything back in reverse order.

Make appointment at ford store for the cash grab. They have to activate the module in trucks computer. $40-$50 I think it cost me on my 2011. I have an appointment soon to get it done again.
