Motor Trend tested the Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, and Dodge Ram 1500.
I found their summary comment on the Chevy interesting:

After more than a week of driving and testing, it was inescapably clear how fiercely competitive this class is. All three are good trucks that will serve their deeply loyal customers well, but by the end, a separation was clear. The Chevrolet Silverado is simply a step behind the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 in every regard. To quote Seabaugh: "You know things aren't looking so hot when the best thing about your truck is its Wi-Fi hot spot."

Am I the only person that has noticed how much smaller the Chevy/Gmc trucks are compaired to all others? I often have to do a double take when I see a new Chevy 1500 to make sure it isn't a mid-size. The interior is noticeably smaller also. Typical GM cheap, toy-like looking interior. I couldn't believe they put membrane switches on the steering wheel.
2015 f150's are everywhere in my neck of the woods. No problem selling them here!

In the Motor Trend report, the Chevy cargo volume is 53.4 cu ft, the F-150 is 63.5 cu ft.

It's like this every time they drop a new body. They always start production at Detroit then spool up the Kansas City plant. I'm seeing new trucks all over the place now and the new body has really grown on me.

I think the new GM truck generation trucks are probably the biggest they have ever been personally. Just not as tall as Ford and GM trucks. They pretty much took the '07/'13 body and squared it out more, and enlarged it some more. The front end is pretty massive in my opinion. I just don't like how they got rid of the extended cab doors in favor of full 4 sized doors. I also don't care for the GM interior as it is.

It was easier to do in the past when they also had Norfolk, VA truck plant, but that's been gone for a while...

I like the front-clip look of the new GMC's (not so much the Chevy), but the interior and build quality in general is just typical GM crap. Fit and finish is garbage, quality sucks. Mechanically they are fine. I would take the motortrain on a GM over a Dodge ANY DAY. The dodge/RAM mechanically are junk, and always have been. They look nice, inside too.

Give me a Ford though, I want to order one, but cant pull the trigger.

Motortrend's Chevy, Ford, and Dodge Pickup test, comment on towing performance:

With flat land hauling impressions in the bag, we headed out to the Davis Dam grade, a 12-mile stretch of Arizona Highway 68 just outside Bullhead City and the site of the SAE J2807 voluntary, standardized towing test for pickup trucks. The combination of altitude, payload, and a continuous 6-percent grade allowed us to observe how the powertrains reacted to a worst-case scenario we called "the frustration test." That is, trying to pass uphill while weighed down. Once again, the Ford felt unencumbered and skipped up the hill as if the weight wasn't there. Objectively, the time it took to jump from 50 to 70 mph nearly doubled compared to passing when empty and on flat ground, but you wouldn't know it by feel alone. The Ram likewise felt unburdened, and though it had the longest passing time, the difference was also less than double. The Chevy, though, felt seriously weighed down. Passing took a whole lot of throttle, and even then its passing time more than doubled.

Keep in mind that the engine in the Chevy is literally twice the size as the engine in the Ford (5.3L V-8 vs 2.7L V-6). The reason the performance is so bad on the Chevy is it still uses ancient pushrod technology, along with 2 valve/cylinder. The Ford uses state of the art DOHC (Double Overhead Camshafts), 4 valves/cylinder, and twin turbos.

I'd love to see the Davis Dam shootout done again with the 3.5EB and 5.0 in the mix to see how they compare. Can't hitch my trailer up to both trucks for a test pull before buying but a head to head comparison would provide some food for thought.
