I don't really see the point. There is damage that still has to be repaired. Probably will cost as much or more than if it were steel.

The point is how much higher is the cost to repair aluminum? The answer is quite a bit. Metal work for steel calls for $60/hr labor rate at that Ford dealer, whereas the aluminum is $120/hr
But it's all hypothetical if we don't have a steel bed side to compare it to, no? I would venture to guess there would be more damage to a steel bed.

I think it proves that the aluminum is pretty darn tough. As for the point, I suppose it shows that it's more costly to fix AL but we all knew that already.
I have insurance so I really don't give a hoot. A deductible is there for a reason.
