Where is the 2015 at the autoshow?

I thought they were going to show the 2015? Not a concept! I like the concept, but I really wanted to see the 2015.

Ford isn't going to show the '15 truck 18 months before it goes on sale. No way, no how.

Read the last sentence of the AN story. The word "prototype" is used.

I look at "prototype" and "concept" as 2 different things. Closely related, but at least to me, a Concept is a "look what we can do". Prototype is "this is very close to what we're going to do". There are a lot of Concept vehicles out there that will never see production and if they do, they are changed greatly.

I understand it is a minor play of words, but I really really really was hoping they called it a Prototype rather than a Concept.

I really think the production model will be fairly close to this. Job 1 should only be about a year and a half away.

18 months away from production doesn't give Ford much time to come up with something drastically different than the Atlas. I think the Atlas is it! Best looking truck I've ever seen.

The article said it would be a peek. A peek can mean just the grille. We saw the whole truck and a giant presentation so that is a lot more than I was expecting! They also say it is a concept so we can give Ford feedback. Ford will then make changes to what we don't like or keep what we do like.

I really think Ford would have completed their focus groups a while ago. I doubt they would be scrounging up ideas over the next 6 months and leave themselves less than a year to come up with an all new F150. I read somewhere a number of years ago that Ford had started designing/engineering the 2015 F150 and the 2009 had not even been released. Which makes sense because the F150 always seems to be ahead of the curve, if ya know what I mean.

Of course this is all speculation, but exciting nonetheless.

It will take a huge FU%K up to pull me away from the F150 brand.

I think the "concept" looks sweet. but it looks more like a production models then most concepts. Look at the super chief concept. it looked fake and like it would never make production. The atlas looks like it could be sold on the showroom floor today minus the interior.

Ford can't afford too early a release of the official 2015 model or else they risk the "Osborne Effect". I bet they purposefully added gadgets and gizmos they knew wouldn't be on the next version as a way to distance the Atlas from the official 15 model (louvers, wheels). I do think a majority of the concept's exterior styling will be used.
