Brand new Ford Raptor- Severe Salt/Corrosion Damage

I purchased my brand new Ford Raptor Friday March 31st here in Houston, TX. It had 25 miles on the odometer. The next morning I wanted to appreciate the Fox shocks and new undercarriage only to be greeted by a TON of salt damage.

I have determined this due to the salt deposits you can clearly see on parts on the pictures. I have even tasted these deposits on my tongue and have confirmed it is salt. This is unacceptable, especially for a high end vehicle that sells (and I purchased)over MSRP.

I am seeking resolution to this situation. I have not even owned the car for a full week and have just now noticed this. I understand flash rust but this is CLEARLY not flash rust, specifically when realizing the heavy salt deposits. I noticed salt even on the turbochargers and the ABS Circuit Block.

I would not like that either but then again I would have inspected the insanely expensive truck completely before buying it. Lesson learned and Ford should make it right.
I thought the exhaust system was supposed to be stainless steel....mine is

Agree, it stinks, but probably not much they will do for you. Just need to try and work through them and they might under coat it for you or something, but undercoating wouldn't probably be much of concern in your part of the country for protection.

Good luck. Sweet looking truck!

Looks like someone went to Galveston and drove it into the gulf!
Hope they fix you up.

25 miles on it???? It should have had less than one mile. Somebody took that one for a joy ride on the gulf coast beach. I would be talking to a lawyer! You can bet you A** that the stealership was glad to be rid of this one and that they aren't about to take it back with that kind of rust.

Just out of curiousity, how far is the beach from the dealership?

Just for reference my 2010 doesn't have anything even remotely close to that much rust and I live in a hot humid climate.

Wow that's crazy. Hope you get it resolved. Not sure what they would do for you.

I would be sending pictures to Ford and my finance company. This is not acceptable. My 2012 Mustang looks cleaner underneath than that. I just looked under my 17 f150 and its spotless. The cause looks to be something more corrosive than salt. It looks like a chloride or heavy acid did the damage. It would take road salt longer than a few weeks to do that much damage.

I would be curious to know the build date and location for the truck. If Michigan and the winter, this thing could have rolled off the line into a nasty snow storm. Lots at the factory could have been heavily salted, but it does seem like the corrosion is excessive for so little exposure.

I too wouldn't be happy. Considering your truck is a flagship svt vehicle, they might do something to help with some of the parts.

What dealer did you buy it at?

The dealers are decent but Ford is difficult. Texas lemon law is not really favorable to the buyer. Your best bet is the better business bureau, this is what the service manager will probably tell you.
