Ignition or starter

Ignition or starter

Yesterday I went to start my 2010 f150. Turned the key starter engaged key back to run but starter was still engaged had to turn key off to stop starter. Key switch was a little rough so I changed it also ignition switch no help

Normal behavior. I think it will stop cranking after 10 seconds if it doesn't start.

Yes, that is the normal behavior of the OTIS feature. All you have to do is momentarily turn the ignition switch to START and release it and the computer takes over the starting attempt.

Starter

When I release the key it goes back to the run position but the starter is still engaged have to turn key to the off position to stop it. I changed the key switch yesterday it works good also the ignition switch.

Fuse #27

Thank y'all for your help. It was fuse #27 that was bad.

F27 would only affect the fuel pump You didn't say anything about the engine not starting.

Starter

Didn't know that the starter would stay engaged if the motor started.

It won't stay engaged if it starts. If it doesn't start it will stay engaged for about 10 seconds.
