Blower Motor Resistor
Blower Motor Resistor
2013 F150 Lariat Eco-boost; Super Crew; 4x4; 120K miles; dual zone; automatic HVAC control: Blower Motor runs on high with no ability to control fan speed. Heat and AC work fine. The problem presents as a bad blower motor resistor. When I replace the resistor…blower motor does not work at all. Tried two different brands of replacement part, same issue. When I reinstall the “original” blower motor resistor, blower operates only on high. Any ideas on what I am missing in troubleshooting this issue?

Thank you for the link. The blower motor control module (sometimes referenced as a resistor b/c this is how the voltage regulation occurs within the module to adjust the blower speed) is the component I purchased. Two different brands…one Duracraft and I do not recall the second. Both were specified as replacement parts for YH-1829 module which was the factory original. Upon installation of the newly purchased modules, the blower does not work at all. When I put the original back in, the blower only works on high.
My last resort option would be to make the purchase directly from the dealer to rule out any slight variation in design that is causing the replacement parts to apparently not be compatible. Otherwise I am missing something in diagnosing the problem. Appreciate the suggestions.

Buy the Motorcraft part, skip the aftermarket ones.
It actually uses PWM (pulse-width modulation) to vary the current through the driver transistor to vary the speed of the motor.

So did anyone ever figure this out? I am having same problem, plus when I turn the power to the blower off, it gets faster. I replaced mine with the part from advance auto parts and not only did it not fix the problem, the fan didn't work at all. So I returned the part and put the old one back in because is better to have a fan that I can't control the speed of than no fan at all.
