2009 Plat 4x4 Steering seems stiff/hard

2009 Platinum 4x4 89k miles. Recently noticed it seems to be a little harder to make minor or slight left or right moves to keep truck in lane going down the road.
If I steer slightly to one direction while driving the truck keeps going in that direction no matter road lean. It does not self correct straight even after coming around a corner
it will come back to center but not fully.

What made me start paying attention it just started to seem it took more effort to the little steering correction we make while driving down the road.

2009 trucks have regular power steering, not electric. No noises and fluid is good.

Have not seen this mentioned in any forums. Wonder if no grease fittings in steering parts might be problem.

Take it to a good front end shop to get checked out. It may just need an alignment.

Have owned truck since new. It does not pull at all like an alignment issue.

It is mainly the extra effort to make small steering moves while driving straight.
Thought maybe there was something out on this issue I did not see. I remember reading about steering linkage/rod coming from dash has a tightening up issue, but
not sure it was my year and couldn't find it again.

I'll have to check with shop guy on it. Thanks for input.

Check the u-joint in the steering shaft.

Hey glc, THANKS for your thoughts.

Was upper u-joint. Our great governor in NJ uses the hell out of the salt brine in winter.

Truck has way more rust under hood in engine area than it should, or any of my other trucks had.
