Struts/shocks Input Please

2010 F150 Platinum 4x4
2"Leveling Kit
305/55 R20 Tires
134k miles
---------------------
In preparation for hauling a travel trailer, I am going to replace my shocks/struts. With 134k miles, I'm sure they need replacing anyway.

Currently i have a 2" leveling kit installed on the front over factory struts.
I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy. I like the price of the KYB's from Rock Auto, but it doesn't say if it raises the truck or not. I assume if its stock replacement, then I could reinstall my 2" leveling kit.

Any input on replacement struts/shocks? Also, would you "DIY" or take it to shop? Only thing that concerns me is the coils if i have to compress them.

You can DIY it, if you feel comfortable using a spring compressor.

Me personally, I am 110% alert when I mess with spring compressors. While I do get the heebee jeebies, I still do it. I just realize the potential danger and work very safely around compressed springs. I also wear appropriate clothing and PPE working around compressed springs.

I've watched far too many "3 Finger Joe" type safety videos. It ain't no joke.

thx for reply.

decided for $300 i'll take it to suspension shop and just let them do it.

next decision is whether to leave my 2" leveling kit (spacers over coil) or remove it and level with the bilesteins. Anyone with pros/cons to that ?

I myself would rather have the Bilsteins if I were leveling plus I think they ride better than the KYB. BTW personally I am not afraid of the spring compressor, use the tool correctly and you don't have problems. I also used to change out Maxi Can Diaphragms on truck brake systems. More dangerous than a truck spring being compressed and safe as long as it is done correctly.

my choice is to leave the 2" leveling kit i have on it now (spacers on the coil)
or remove the spacers and just go with the bilsteins set at 1.75 or 2.25 (2nd or 3rd notch)
