It could be a blown head gasket. Check the coolant for signs of oil in the coolant and the oil for signs of coolant. But I would start off by getting a test kit that detects exhaust gasses in the radiator coolant. A compression gauge may also detect a problem and a compression test on each cylinder should be done. Look for any signs of coolant in the cylinders or on the spark plugs when you take them out to perform the compression tests.
