Steering Wheel upgrade

Hi all,

Just wondering, I have a 2012 crew with full steering wheel controls but no heat. A guy is selling a 2015 wheel with heat.
Would it be plug and play swap?
If I take my wheel off will there be a place to plug the wheel heat line into?
Does the computer need to be reflashed to accept functions?
Any info would be great.

Thanks

Hey,
Sorry that no one responded.
Yes. There would be computer adjustments.

If you have Sync2 (a.k.a. Ford MyTouch) then you should be able to add the controls for a heated steering wheel via the APIM.

If you don't have Sync2, then you'd have to find a physical switch to control it.

Whether or not the wiring is already there I can't verify.

As far as mounting it goes; it will bolt on but you may have to modify the airbag housing, additionally I'm not certain that the connections are the same for the steering wheel controls.

My suggestion would be to get a steering wheel off a 2009-2014 model. Those will fit without modification. If you don't have Sync2 and you don't have in dash navigation, then you could also add Sync2 and get both the control for your Heated wheel and Navigation.

ForScan and a BAFX ODB2 adapter will be extremely helpful in programming your APIM.

I don't imagine the newer generation would bolt up electronically speaking. I would surely imagine connections are different, especially since I was quite sure there is not a heated steering wheel option for any 2009/2014 truck. Am I wrong? Did Platinums/Limited trims receive heated wheel?

All of the awesome features my 2013 truck has, a non-heated steering wheel is my biggest gripe.
