Blinker Issues

I've exhausted all of my available knowledge and can't seem to fix my blinker issue. I have a 2011 FX4 Ecoboost and for the past 5 months, my drivers side rear blinker will not function properly. The drivers front and side mirror indicator will rapidly blink, but the rear has no blink at all. I've changed out lightbulbs, connectors, and inspected the wires leading into the sockets but to no avail. My best guess at this time is a body control module issue. I would really like to get this fixed without spending an arm and leg at the dealership. If that means I need to purchase the BCM (no clue where to buy it or part #) and have the dealership flash it, then that's what I'll do. But I'm stuck for now. Any input or suggestions? Much thanks.

You need to do more than just inspect the wiring - you need to chase it with a meter looking for shorts, opens, and bad grounds.

I would think it is a module, of course the dealership can test them. It may be a loose wire on the back one not getting a signal.
I have a similar problem. I put the switchback Led lights up front with the resisters. They look great. Was having the dealership turn on DRL and drivers side was out. ( I have HID headlights, so front parking are DRL) He turned off the DRL and we noticed that when the headlight switch is off the dr front blinker doesn't work. Headlight switch in auto, it works. Tested all modules, all fine. Put a regular bulb in and it worked like it should. LED switchbacks are doing something to mine not letting the module work.

I've ALWAYS found that the biggest problem with blinkers and other small lights was bad grounds. GLC is right, you need to get in there with a meter and check everything, including the grounds.

Hello silverbruiser,

I know you mentioned you don’t want to, but I recommend bringing your vehicle to your local Ford Dealer and get them diagnosed first. With the diagnosis, your dealer can look up any TSBs, recalls, or customer satisfaction programs that may apply to your vehicle. Also, be sure to speak with the service manager, as he is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

Also, remember repairs done at a Ford Dealer come with a 24 months/unlimited miles warranty. You can schedule an appointment online here.
