Paint under door handles very dull
Paint under door handles very dull
I just bought this 2010 F150 FX4 a couple weeks ago..nice truck. After washing it a few times both the drivers side and passenger sides, right under door handles, the paint is very dull. Any recommended car wax that can shine it up?

Give it a hit with some scratchX 2.0 and a micro-fibre. It may shine up pretty good.
It will take a bit of elbow grease.
If that doesn't get you anywhere, your looking at a re-finishing option like mentioned above.

It's a small area, so just sand down the bad spots and get a rattle can of clear and go for it. If you do it yourself you probably looking at 50 bucks or less for a can of clear and some good 1500 or 2000 grit paper. If you take it in and have someone paint it, you could be looking at $200-$300

You can buy yourself some time by giving it a light wet-sand (2000 grit) and then follow up with a compound like M105. I would remove your door handle to do it though. Follow up with your favorite wax/sealant and then save your pennies for a re-paint.
I've used Clear Touch Up Paint in the little bottles with brush in cap that's intended to overcoat a color coat ...... I've used it to blend areas just like that where CC wore around an edge on an older car with good result. It will protect the color under it and blend it .... and may even help tie down the edges of the peeling portion for a while?
I've modified a couple parts on motorcycles as well, where I cut a piece that was chrome plated and lacked chroming facilities to refinish the cut ..... so then I polished the cut with various grits until the bare steel looked like chrome, then used the same Clear Touch Up with a brush over it and on a pair of folding footpeg mounts I did 16-18 years ago, the clear has held up. That bike is a '85 Gold Wing and it's seen rain and sun .... and I have done some other parts cuts and a couple welds even in other cases.
