driving an un flashed 2010

Lads

I have had my 2010 5.4 liter flashed more times than I care to count. And it never seems to stay working well for very long. Plus the charge the hell out of you everytime they do it. Am I asking for trouble driving an un flashed tranny? thanks FS

Do you mean a program reflash? If so, the program does not change. However, your driving style can affect the adaptive learning somewhat. Did you mean flush?

I'm not sure why you're asking but I hope not. I have the same year truck with the same engine and everything is stock and has never been flashed or had ANY other "mods". No complaints with it so far (KNOCK ON WOOD!)

I'm sure no one gets their tranny flashed when it does not need it, I'm happy for you. Mine on the other hand has the nice little slowing down clunk right before you stop. nothing noticeable on accelleration, just when slowing down for stopping. FS

tune

The stock programming is tuned for MPG. Shifting can also be clunky depending on the situation. The best thing I ever did for my 2009 was install a custom tune from 5Star tuning. It is a simple 87 octane tow/perf tune with some custom shift points but the transmission works perfectly and the engine runs great. I did it more because of the crazy stock transmission shifting than engine performance, but have to say, it makes for a seamless package. As for the bump, try to relube the slip joint if your driveshaft has one, Fasteel.

"what we have here is a failure to communicate"

In your OP, you specifically asked if you were in for trouble by driving an unflashed transmission. I replied that didn't think so and that mine (same year and same engine so presumably the same tranny) has never been flashed and is working fine. How does that NOT answer your question?

You also never said WHY you'd had your tranny flashed to begin with and never mentioned having any problems with it so we had to assume that you had it flashed to try and "enhance" it's performance and not because you "NEEDED" it due to any actual fault. In fact, it's still not clear if there is anything wrong with your tranny; other than you don't like the clunk that it makes.
