Adding 12v plug to bumper/bed of 2014 Lariat with tow package

Hello,

Pretty much a noob at modding a vehicle. I'd like to add a 12v weatherproof plug to my bed or bumper. I've got a plug and wiring but don't know the best place to tie in. Can/should I plug in to the tow harness? Which wire if so? If not, where should I tie in?

Thanks for your help.
Fred

Right. So I can plug in and run a 12v air compressor to inflate the air springs when towing without having to keep track of a 12v extension cable.

You should be able to make a plug from a 7 pin trailer connector and a power socket. How water proof it is depends on how you make it. The thing to check is the power requirements of your compressor vs. what the plug can support.

I'm looking at doing something similar.

The plan is to have a 12v power source at the rear of the truck for a power inverter as well as a power source for some bed lighting.

I have ordered some 4 gauge wire and will run it to the back via frame rail. It will be fused at the power distribution box as well as each of the power points at the back of the truck. I'll use a local ground at the rear of the truck.

When I get it done, I'll do a quick write up.

Sounds great! I look forward to reading it.
