Angry Right or wrong?

This past weekend i went to my local 4 wheel parts looking for rims and tires for my truck. (2010 F150 Lariat 4WD) I told him i was wanting to put 17" rims on it and he said "100% not possible".... Rather than stand and argue with the guy I just figured that i could get a for sure answer here. So is the guy at 4 wheel parts right?..... Or wrong?

The real answer is, maybe. The base wheel was 17" but the inside of the wheel is dished inward to clear the brake caliper. Aftermarket wheels are hit or miss, until you bolt them on there's no way to tell. For that reason the guy was telling you to get 18s because they always will fit.

The only 100% safe bet on a 17 is to use factory wheels. Use the search and see what other ones guys on here have had success with. Otherwise, you'll have to test fit one to be sure.

I know it's not the same, but my last truck was a 2009 Ranger that came with 16" wheels.

After a couple years I went with an aftermarket 15" wheel so I could run 31" tires.

I knew it was going to be tight; some days the callipers scraped, other days they didn't.

As it has been pointed out, the only 100% surefire way to run a 17" wheel on your truck is OEM as they will be machined to clear the rotors.

I got told the same thing when I went to get new wheels because I had a set of 35x12.5x17 tires at my house already. I played it safe and got 18s
