Best Fuel Mileage Tire?
Everything about them sucks!
They suck on dry roads.
They suck on wet roads.
They suck in the snow.
They suck in the mud.
They suck on loose dirt.
They suck on sand.
They suck because the gaps in them are just big enough to hold gravel to highway speeds then they let go and the rock his you truck.
They suck because they are loud like a mud tire.
They suck because they don't ride well.
They suck because they are heavier than comparable tires.
Get the point?
The only thing they don't suck at is lasting. But that also sucks because that means you will want to get rid of tires with lots of tread left. The last straw was when I had on my 2005. The back end broke loose on a 3-4 downshift at 70MPH on a wet freeway. There's no way a stock 5.4 4x4 Supercrew should spin the tires at highway speeds. That was my third set of them and they all have been trash. I won't buy another truck with them on it.

Discount tire used to sell a radial tire made by Goodyear. They was called the Road Hugger I believe.
I ran them for years on a 3/4 ton Van hauling equiptemt around.
Never had a problem out of them. They were some very good tires.

I know Goodyear tires used to have softer rubber in them. Giving a better ride.
But they didn't last as long.
Didn't know there was so many people that didn't like Goodyear tires.
The only complaint I had was with the sidewall cracks. They were quiet and rode well. After they got older the rubber got harder and the traction wasn't very good. But, by the time I had to replace them because of the cracks, any other tire would have been worn out.
I want to keep the same size tires as I have on. Don't want any with harder rubber, or more aggressive threads.
Live in the country and do a lot of Interstate driving. But get in the dirt in the country too.

A neighbor has 40,000 on his Goodyear tires that are the same ones as on my truck. He has the dealer to change his oil and tires rotated every 5000 miles.
But if I can get 40,000 on the Goodyear. That will be a while.
If I replace my tires they will probably be Michelin LTX AT tires.

Goodyear vs Michelin
The last 2 trucks I bought came with Wrangler. I didn't like the ride much, didn't like the way the handled (or didn't) in snow and especially ice. But what I really didn't like about them was that they wore like iron and couldn't justify the cost to replace them. Nonetheless, at 65K, I noticed rapid uneven wear. And I'm seeing it again on a '12 FX4 that is at 55K. I replaced my previous with MS2s, and have not been disappointed, in wear or performance. I'll replace these just before winter ...with MS2s ...unless someone can advise me better. I do wish they had a more "manly" look, but the performance can't be beat, and I think they yield a little better MPGs.
I run the Goodyears on all of my new trucks, and get 65-80k on the first set. Personally, no issues with them, and they wore well. Granted a set of tires only lasts me about 2 years with my miles, but I have no complaints.
