Both heated seats do not work 2011 Raptor

Hello,
After many hours of researching online I'm throwing in the towel. I would love some help. I have a 2011 Raptor Super crew. The driver and passenger side heated seats do not work. The light that is on the heat controls stays on. These seats do not have ac just heat. I also have fully functioning heat system inside the truck. Every thing is pluged in and the fuses have been checked. Can you please steer me in a positive direction.
Thank you,
Steve

Welcome to the forum, Steve. It might be time to get your local dealership involved; I know they'd be happy to warm things up for you. How many miles are on your truck?

Hello Crystal,
My truck only has 27K miles on it and unfortunately I'm out of time on my warranty. I use the heated seats a dozen times per year for these Michigan winters. My next move is to take it to the dealership but, since I enjoy working on my truck I thought I would ask my fellow truck enthusiasts to help point me in a better direction. Do you have any insight for me because it looks like I'm striking out.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm not a technician, so I'm not the best resource for mechanical questions. If you decide to get your dealership involved, let me know so I can look into ways to assist.

Crystal

I have replaced the Drivers seat heater on my '03 Lariat and recently my '12 Lariat. I stopped by the Ford dealer and he printed me out a wiring diagram for the seat so I could find the connectors for the heat element. Once I popped those loose, it was as easy as putting a continuity tester across the leads to see if the element was burnt out. This last time it was only my lower element that was out, ordered it and pulled the seat. The factory element did not want to separate from the foam so I cleaned it up and applied the new element over the top of it, plugged in the wires and recovered the bottom and bolted in. Works fine now.

Sounds weird but check your battery, I had a few weird things going on with my truck and no piles with it starting, but went ahead and checked / replaced my battery and all the electrical issues went away.

Heater would blow cold air on heat, back window wouldn't work, a few other weird things and once the battery was replaced all were working well.

It would make sense to replace the heating element but, both sides going out at the same time? Kind of hard to believe. As for the battery, I'll check that one out. I appreciate the ideas.
Thanks,
Steve

Hello,
Yesterday I found out that the passenger side seat does heat apparently someone has to sit in it for it to get hot. Well anyway, it works so this brings me to the most important seat,my seat (driver side). The heated seat lights by the climate control stays on when pushed. They do not go off like in other posts that I have read. So I guess I'm looking at a relay or a new element. Where are these relays at? I was also told the the relay is not a plug and play item. That the dealer have to flash or program the new seat module to the new part. Is this the case? Thank you for you help once again.
Hope you are enjoying your day,
Steve

If you have a multi-meter, check for resistance across the element at the plug. If no resistance, you found your problem. If you have resistance, then you might need to go further but I'm guessing the element may have burnt a "hole" in the circuit.
