If you mean a 4 door crew cab with the longer bed, then yes, it's not as easy to park. (not sure they even still sell those, they are rare) But the typical Crew cabs (supercrew) are, to my knowledge, about the same length and wheelbase as the extended cab (supercab).

I have the supercab. I do not carry passengers often, other than dogs. I work out of my truck and like the 6.5' bed vs the shorter one on the crew cab trucks. The rear area is adequate for adults (I'm 6'0") as long as the driver and front passenger aren't too tall. But not for long trips. If you carry adults often the crew cab is much nicer.

They say Supercrews have slightly better resale value, but the KBB on my FX4 supercab with leather is surprisingly high at 3 years old. $32K. I only paid $37K driveout for it!

The market is going with supercrews, and they sell more of them than supercabs. But that is because so many people use them as SUV substitutes more than work trucks. If you work from it and need the bed space, it's a harder choice.

Be sure to check Truecar to see what no-haggle prices are available in your area. Also search all the dealers, as some may have posted prices on their 2014 models. Check Ford.com for all applicable incentives.

I suspect your salesman may just be pushing you into what he has on the lot, if you were not talking about a crew cab long bed truck.

Actually was just comparing the super cab FX4 vs the regular bed crew cab FX4. Still looking I really do like the look of the super cab a bit better, kinda looks sportier to me whereas the crew cab makes me think half SUV, more of a family truck, not a bad thing but I don't have kids so really wouldn't need that extra space. Will keep yall updated hoping to get something here in the next couple weeks!

I was originally looking for a scab because I liked the look better and wanted the 6.5 bed. Then I took my kids for a test drive and they even thought the back was too small. Went with the screw 5.5. Love the extra room! No difference in driving as long as you get the 5.5 screw as noted by others.

hey bro,

I have a supercrew xlt standard bed. I have had it for about 5 monts and have taken it to the malls, diners, and all around town. It is challenging to park in some places. But for the most part I chose to park out at the end of the parking lot to avoid the door dings and scratches. With that being said it easily chaps my @$$ when someone parks right next to me however it isn't that often that it does. My parents had a supercab f150 a while back and I drive one at work. Honestly if you are starting a family or do have a family and you plan on camping and doing outdoorsy type things, it is totally worth getting the full size. If not, then you wouldn't need a supercrew. Either way make sure you get the standard bed, having a short bed has bitten a few of my co workers and they end up calling me to help them out. Hope this helps.

The Screw is the better choice for anyone with kids or frequent passengers in the back.
However, I'd choose the Scab because I hardly ever have passengers in the back and the Scab looks better.

It was time for me to replace my 2009 S/Cab Ranger with something newer.

My "ideal" truck would have been a Supercab FX4 with navigation, etc. however when we searched for it there were only 3 in the country and none in a colour I wanted. My dealer pointed out that the super crew 5.5 box would be the same wheelbase as the super cab 6.5 box but would carry my golfing crew much more comfortably.

After a week of driving it around I don't really notice the big empty cavern of space behind me (which I had been concerned about) and I can honestly say it holds a lot more of my gear within easy reach and with better safety. Everyone who opens one of the rear doors and looks inside can't believe the room - you could host a party back there!

Long story short, moving from a Ranger to a Supercrew I would not hesitate to do it again.
