2013 Check Engine Light

Hope all is well, been forever since I last got on here. Needless to say since last August when I got married, life has been in hyper drive, but that's another story.

Hopped in my truck after work yesterday and the Check Engine light came on. Truck ran fine and all the gauges are right where they should be. It'll be heading to the dealership tomorrow at 7:30am to see what the code is. Truck only has 16,500 miles on it. Its not flashing so I am assuming its some faulty sensor some wheres.....

What engine do you have and what code is it? Flashing normally is for a bad misfire. The O2 sensors are junk and are notorious for going out. I just changed one last night. I was throwing P0135 and P0053 codes, both bank 1 sensor 1 heated O2 sensor codes. That led me to believe it was the sensor not another problem.

5.0L, engine code on the CPU box? Or Trouble code, I won't know the trouble code until tomorrow AM.

The code that is throwing the CEL. I'm not sure if the EB and the 5.0 use the same O2 sensors. If you're under warranty let the dealership fix it.

99and04f150,

Yours could be anything. My 2012 5.0 litre has coded four times (none flashing). Three were catalytic converter codes and one was an O2 sensor code.

The truck has had three new converters and an O2 sensor.

I hope that yours is a simple fix like a backfire from starting after it sat for a while.

Take Care

Green Gem.

O2 sensor on the left bank. They cleared the CEL and will replace the sensor on Friday. They need to have the truck sit for a little bit so it cools off. The one tech remarked that due to the tricky location he'd rather not burn himself.

Hey 99and04f150,

I'll gladly look into this for you. To do so, shoot me a PM with your name, VIN, mileage, dealer, and best daytime phone number.

Nick
