On The Fence
Found a truck I really liked. I'm trading in a vehicle I'm slightly upside down on, and after haggling, I'm around $37500 before financing on a 2011 F150 Fx4 SuperCrew 5.0 Race red with Black Leather interior and luxury package, tonneau cover, 20" wheels etc. 26k miles. Looks flawless in person. I haven't driven the ecoboost, but I miss the sound and feel of V8, which is why I sought this one out.
Newer models are out of my price range because of my trade in, and I'd like a truck sooner than later, but I'd hate to pass this up if it seems like a decent deal. Thoughts?

You can get leftover 13's for that price. I was at my local dealer yesterday and they have a leftover 13 FX4 screw with the luxury pack and the 5.0 with 18's in blue flame, also has nav and a sunroof and sticker was 48 and change. If your good you can probably get it for 37,500 to 39,000. For comparison My truck is identical to it except I have the 20's and the sticker was 49,700 and I paid 40,040 back in November for it. And the salesman told me there is an additional 1000 dollar rebate on leftover 13 F150's
BTW unless your credit is really bad, every bank in the country will give a lower rate on financing on a new vehicle vs. used.

Yes the $37500 is everything, negative trade, taxes etc. They had it listed for $35k. I can get a 3.29% rate on it. It will cost roughly $42000 after financing. I'm trying to stretch out the payment so it'll probably cost about $500 a month, but I anticipate paying it off in 3 years. Just want to keep the monthly payment down because high numbers make me nervous lol
I would have tried for new, but after trade n down payment it would be too high for sure. Though, this used one I'm looking at was well maintained and has zero flaws in and out.
This particular truck also has power moonroof and navigation
Thanks guys.

I'd buy less truck and get a newer one. My FX4 Screw with cloth stickered at 42k, got it for 32.5K after rebates and invoice & split the holdback with the dealer. It was worth me to do that and have brand new, zero miles, nobody's hidden problems etc...
Right now I see a lot of new vehicle rates at .25-1.5% through credit unions. I just refi'd my 2010 with USAA for 2.25% they offered me a new purchase rate of .49%
Navy Federal and Pentagon are also offering great rates.
I would drive a brand new 2014 XLT for 32k before paying 30k anything for a three year old FX4 but that's just me...

I saw a new 04/2013 FX2 SCab yesterday, with a sale sign that said "as low as $30,200" with an MSRP a little over $41,000. About $900 was for a bedliner and dealer prep nonsense.
The molding and trim was faded and it had really bad hard water spotting. That dealership definitely doesn't take care of the vehicles on their lot, some of the 2014's were in similar condition.

We can't tell you if that's a good deal or not when we don't know how upside down you are. But if you were just outright buying, that's not a good deal at all and you could get a brand new one for that price or up to $2k more. But if they're asking $35k, and that's what you're paying for just that truck, not a good deal. It's 3 years old.
My dealership would probably have it around there too, but when you can get a new one for a little more, I don't see the point.

Thanks guys, I haven't been following these trucks for years like you guys probably have, just wanted a feel for what I was getting into. I was negotiating over a week, and worked a few more bucks off since last post and pulled the trigger. Could have gotten newer for a little more money, but it would have been too much money in the end for a little less truck, even if slightly.
Much appreciation for all of the tips and comments
