ONTARIO regulations regarding DRL?
ONTARIO regulations regarding DRL?
I have been reading the Highway Traffic Act on the subject of Daytime Running Lights. I know this is a topic that stirs people up so, the only reason i am bringing this up is to know if anyone living somewhere in Canada that has the same regs as ON, that found a way to have FORD or themselves disable the Factory headlamp DRL but still maintain legal DRL lights ie: you installed the DRL-1 module that makes your front park(ambler) lights your DRL. I am not looking to break any laws, so i added a module that makes my front ambers light up permanently as soon as the truck turns on, so later on if i want to add an HID kit i don't have to worry about flickering or adding more relays. any input would be helpful.

This is DRL mod when truck is on.

This is when truck is put into gear. drl mod + factory DRLs. Will a dealership disable the headlamp DRL if i have the amber lights always on for DRLs?
as for the HTA, The regulations for DRLs are actually found under the MVSA, which i dont have around right now, although basically...
Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA) and its Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (MVSRs) require that all new vehicles sold in (or imported into) Canada and built after December 1, 1989, be fitted with daytime running lights (DRLs) that go on when you start the vehicle.
Vehicles built after December 1, 1989, that operate without DRLs are either:
United States licensed whose drivers are visiting Canada
have a broken or disconnected DRL function; or
were imported when they were more than 15 years old, (the federal government does not have jurisdiction over these)

This only applies to New vehicles sold or imported vehicles under those manufacture dates. So if you turn it off, no where under the HTA does it state that you require DRL. Only 1 province has that rule in their hta but I can't recall which province it is right now. It even states that the federal government doesn't have juristiction over keeping the DRLs.
