2012 FX4 Level Kit Noise! HELP!
I took my truck to a local place to get a 2"level in my 2012 fx4. Go pick it up and start driving and its making noises kinda like "waaa waaa waa" as best i can describe it in words. I took it back and told them and he doesnt seam to know what the heck is wrong with it, said hed keep it for the night and try to fix it tomorrow. I think he knows what they did but didnt want to tell me. Im no mechanic but hoping someone can stear me in the right direction so when I go back tomorrow I know what im talking about. I dont want to got Ford becuase obviously they wont cover it under warranty now.
Thanks!
Thanks!
What kind of leveling kit did you get? Steel? Cause i know some ppl get the hell bent steel kit and it makes noise(creaks) cause its metal on metal.....Its not gonna hurt anything if it is that, but will creak from time to time....
Technically it wasn't designed to have a level kit. So really you're a bit overboard to be 'pissed' that you new 40k truck makes noises with it installed.
I asked a few people I know that know more then me, he said it sounds like the hub? I have no idea. It isnt a rubbing sound at all, its hard to describe, ive never heard it before.

If describing the noise is hard, try recording it and posting the video on youtube. You can link the youtube video here......
Is it only at low speeds? Does it change with acceleration? Does it ever go away at higher speeds? Any difference in the wheel being straight or turned left or right? Does braking affect it? Do bumps (ie speed bumps) affect it? Does being in reverse change it? Reverse and hard turns? Forward and Hard turns? We need MUCH more information to be able to help.
I'm assuming that they did a wheel alignment after the install. Why in the world would they release the truck to you like that? Of course, I'm assuming that the wheel alignment guy did a test drive as part of his final check. I ALWAYS drove any vehicle I had aligned. Maybe in your case they did a "set the toe and let her go". I'd be asking for the alignment spec printout when I picked it up. "We don't have one" means "we didnt do it", or from a customer point of view, if they cannot produce a spec sheet, I wouldn't pay for it until they could.
Bad customer service. This type of situation is why I like the DIY route.
