Looking for some opinions...

I haven't posted much on here since I joined. Mostly read what everyone else had to say. Very informative. I have an 04 FX4, 108,000 miles on it. Had it for 8 years. Great truck. Leveled, airbags in the rear, 33's on MB Gunner 6 rims, Corsa sport exhaust, tinted windows, I could go on and on. Looking at trading it on a 2010 FX4, with 40,000 miles. Dealer is asking 25,000 and offering 10,000 for trade. Good deal? Part of me says go for it and mod all over, and part of me says keep the 04. HELP..

10,000 isn't to bad for trade. I got 11,500 out of my 05 fx4 on trade in had 93,000 on the clock. I have to ask why don't you buy new I know around here you can pick up a 13 or 14 stx or xlt about 26 to 30 grand. Fx4 can be had in mid to high 30s. The 10 fx4 is going to be nicer inside though than a newer stx or xlt depending on how expensive it was new. I would recommend taking everything you can off your 04 before trading it in. If you got your truck paid off do you want to have to pay each month on a newer one? Is your 04 running good and not becoming a money pit? For me I drive about 50 miles a day and didnt want to have to worry about breaking down so I decided to trade it.

The 04 has been paid off for awhile. Runs great and isn't a money pit. Yet. Keep thinking sooner or later it may be. Like the FX4 more because of the flow through console and floor mounted shifter. All the 13's I've looked at are closer to 40. Maybe my taste is too expensive. Hate the idea of a big truck payment, but the 04 won't last forever and trade in value will keep going lower. I drive 50 miles a day to and from work and don't want to start worrying about reliability.

One thing I miss is the flow through console and shifter but the 5.0 in my new truck makes up for it lol I would ask for all service records (if any) and a Carfax report. Check for the normal issues associated with these trucks (hopefully none present). Go drive it a few times and see if you can get it a few grand cheaper or more on trade. Not sure what the value is on a 10 fx4 with that mileage but I would look it up and check other local places to compare prices. If everything checks out and you like the truck buy it. Not sure what your aftermarket rims and tires look like but I would take them off. Could use them on the new truck or sell them (could be a truck payment or two). Good luck and post some pictures if you do buy a truck.
