Krown rust treatment - pics
Just got home from Krown after having my truck rust sprayed before it's first winter. I did this on my last truck too, but waited a couple of years and rust had already taken hold. This time, I did it right away. They did a good job as usual, but it is kinda messy for a few days after. They also drill holes into the pillars and doors to spray inside. Then they apply white grease and a plastic cap. Truck will go in once a year for this treatment.

Yes, it is resprayed once a year. Its a very thin oil that they apply and after about a year, its in need of another coat. Eventually, it does build up a layer of "goo" and protects the metal underneath. Compared to the other products such as electronic modules and tar coatings, this one has the best reviews and results.
You can read all about it on the Krown website:

It costs $139 CDN per year for a full size pickup. The calcium chloride brine that they use on the roads around here now is brutal and much worse than salt as far as rust goes.

I used Rust Bullet on my truck. It is guaranteed for 10 years and is comparable price. It sets up hard and isn't like spraying tar on your truck. It doesn't look like, at least in the pics, that the tar is on the sheetmetal on the inside of the bed sides. Which is where you will need it the most. Any rust preventive is better than none though.
