broken axle shaft

I have a 2012 f150 supercew with the eco boost. While driving down the hiway rear wheel flew off. After crashing looked at rear end and found wheel and hub broken off of axle shaft. Has anyone heard of this or seen this happen before? Not sure if this is warranty or not.

Crazzzzzzy times.

Should be covered by warranty? Where did it break? Right at the end!

Why wouldn't it be covered? Not unless you were hauling something way over the limits of the truck? Either way at least nobody got hurt.

That's crazy. I would think warranty no problem. How fast where you going? Pics by chance?

certainly nothing common that I'm aware of, I'd think it would be covered assuming you're still under warranty.

Is it considered drive train? I would think so.

Not loaded, doing 100 km/h on the 400 at king city sideroad southbound, road conditions ok, just driving and axle snaped with wheel still attched to it. Wheel passed me and truck spun out.Possibly time for some new drawers as well?

your biggest issue will be documenting what happened.

Did the wheel come off and THEN you crashed
or did you crash and THEN the wheel came off.

I'm not questioning your story (should I be?) but to get Ford to cover anything you would have to prove it really happened that way.
Are there any surveillance cameras in the area?

Maybe just let it all run through the insurance process and don't mess with Ford?

wow, I live down the road from there. If there was no "accident" or secondary damage, might not even be an insurance claim. Although if you proceed wisely, and Ford IS at fault, you could be in a good spot.

Well at least you got a police report, good thinking because you might have been Sol without some evidence. Hopefully everything works out in your favor and ford steps up in some way to help.
